Ariadna was daughter of minos Y Pasiphae, and sister of Phaedra.

Helped Theseus giving him a ball so he could get out of the Minotaur's labyrinth and went with him, but Theseus left her abandoned on the island of Naxos, where he found her Dionysus and made her his wife.

As a wedding gift, Dionysus presented him with a gold crown with rubies which, later, was taken to the constellations (the Boreal Crown).

They had several children, including Enopion and Toas.
